The TAMUK music department offers all music students a thorough musical education. During their study each student will become academically proficient in music theory, methods classes, and music history.
In addition, the TAMUK music department offers the students many performance ensembles for the students to participate in. These include chamber music, wind symphony and concert band, marching band, mariachi, concert and jazz choirs, Kingsville Symphony, and specifically for flute players, the flute choir.
Each flute studio member receives a weekly private lesson with Dr. Seidman. The flute studio is also actively involved with in the community. We often have guest artists visit our University, and we take trips to observe and participate in master classes at other universities.
The TAMUK Flute Society, a student-run organization, also organizes many educational flute experiences, such as district master classes for high school musicians.
